Mr. Don Sinke, Director of Transportation for Dean Transportation’s Grand Rapids Public Schools Operation, was honored with the 2016 National School Transportation Association Golden Merit Award at the National School Transportation Association Annual Awards Dinner on July 19, 2016 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mr. Sinke first entered the school transportation industry at the age of 19, joining the maintenance team for Kenowa Hills Public Schools. In 2004, Mr. Sinke joined Dean Transportation to manage the Grand Rapids Public Schools Transportation Department. Mr. Sink’s work ethic and commitment to kids over four decades have earned him the respect not only of his own drivers and mechanics, but that of his transportation peers across the county, region and state.
NSTA’s Golden Merit Award was started in 1969 to recognize school bus operators for their successful operating achievements in the areas of safety, driver training, business practice, vehicle maintenance, and superior service to the school, community, and the pupil transportation industry.
